About the Position:
The Division of Computer Science and Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge is embarking on a cluster hiring initiative to bring in faculty members with expertise in cybersecurity. This cluster hiring effort is part of LSU’s strategic plan to become a leader in defense and cybersecurity. They are inviting applications for multiple positions including Assistant Professors, with the possibility of considering qualified candidates for Associate and Full Professor ranks with tenure. These positions are set to start in August 2024 or earlier.

They are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as system security, machine learning/artificial intelligence safety and security, differential privacy, applied cryptography (including post-quantum cryptography), human-computer interaction and cybersecurity, cloud, web, and network security, cyber-physical and critical infrastructure security, AI-driven cyber analytics, operational cybersecurity, hardware security, cyber forensics (defensive and offensive), and cyber threat intelligence.
About the Division:
The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) division at LSU has a distinguished history of research and excellence in graduate education. They offer both MS and Ph.D. degree programs and are involved in research projects supported by federal agencies, state initiatives, and industry partnerships. Their primary focus for this cluster hire is on cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of this field. LSU is a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) and is dedicated to offering top-tier cybersecurity education and conducting advanced research.
Responsibilities:
The faculty members in these positions will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in the high-priority areas of cybersecurity, mentoring and guiding graduate students, establishing a strong research program focused on advancing cybersecurity, publishing groundbreaking research, and collaborating with colleagues and committees to further the department’s and LSU’s educational and research missions.
Qualification Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- Deep expertise in the principles and practices of cybersecurity.
- For those close to completing their Ph.D., degree completion is expected by the time of appointment.
Minimum Qualifications for Associate Professor:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- 4 years of work experience in the field.
- Proven track record of published research in cybersecurity or related areas.
- Ability to attract external research funding.
Minimum Qualifications for Full Professor:
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
- 8 years of experience in the field.
- Proven track record of published research in cybersecurity or related areas.
- Development of a nationally recognized, externally funded research program in the field.
Campus interviews will be conducted in Baton Rouge, LA, and offers of employment are contingent upon a satisfactory pre-employment background check and submission of official transcripts.
