Direct Support Professionals are expected to introduce and encourage skill development through active treatment activities. They must implement individualized programs and diligently record observations and daily progress notes. Additionally, responsibilities include participating in planning social, home, and recreational activities, assisting with meals, and performing cleaning and laundry duties within the house.
Direct Support Professionals also play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of residents by providing assistance with personal hygiene, transportation to appointments and activities using Verland vehicles, and taking care of housekeeping duties as needed. As the name suggests, candidates may also be required to take on other duties as assigned.
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of the Aide Trainee Program (commonwealth title)
- Six months of paid experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with intellectual disabilities
