Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in association with Louisiana State University, is seeking two Research Specialists in Interventional Resources. The role involves the coordination, planning, and implementation of administrative, clinical, and intervention activities related to clinical studies. The key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the management of various aspects of clinical trials, such as processing paperwork, organizing meetings, overseeing project processes, and using data entry systems.
  • Conducting research tasks, including participant orientations, screening, intervention sessions, remote monitoring, phone calls, and appointment scheduling.
  • Supervising participant exercise, lifestyle, or behavior change intervention sessions to ensure adherence to research study protocols.
  • Interviewing prospective participants to determine their eligibility for research projects.
  • Performing off-campus assessment and intervention visits as required by study protocols.
  • Collaborating with other departments, external collaborators, and project PIs to develop, implement, and monitor project operations.

Note: This position may require a flexible schedule, including work after regular hours, and occasional travel in the Greater Baton Rouge area and beyond.

Qualification Requirements:

As part of a career progression group, both vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Research Specialist 1, 2, or 3 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.

Research Specialist 1:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
  • CPR certification or the ability to obtain it after hire.
  • Ability to effectively work with clients, build rapport, and translate complex scientific information into everyday language.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective multitasking.

Research Specialist 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
  • All qualifications listed for Research Specialist 1.
  • 3-5 years of experience in assessments with human subjects.
  • Experience in training, educating, or providing healthcare to adults, adolescents, or pediatric populations.
  • Experience working with aging populations or those with chronic illnesses.
  • Understanding of good clinical trials practices.

Research Specialist 3:

  • Master’s degree in a health-related field.
  • All qualifications listed for Research Specialist 1.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in assessments with human subjects.
  • Proficiency in conducting VO2max/submaximal tests via the treadmill or bike.
  • Experience in executing exercise prescriptions.
  • Proficiency in performing and reading ECG tests and dynamic isokinetic dynamometer testing.
