This mid-level Software Developer position entails working on human-machine interface design and real-time software development skills. The project at hand involves developing a Virtual Display Unit that integrates Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software for Program Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Health & Monitoring (HMS) capabilities for shipboard propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems using real-time embedded software and user interfaces.
- Act as a team leader responsible for developing schedules and tracking project status.
- Coordinate with customer representatives and senior software engineers to develop secure software architecture and define critical software requirements.
- Provide software configuration control, quality assurance, and security hardening in accordance with DoD Secure Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).
- Determine computer user needs; analyze system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls; prepare operating instructions; design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field.
- 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in developing software for Programmable Logic Controllers and related monitoring systems.
- Experience with Agile development methodology.
- Experience with C, C++, and in a real-time embedded software environment.
Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience with Siemens devices is preferred.
- Visual Basic.
- Experience with security vulnerability scanning tools.
