About the Scholarship:
Stipendium Hungarian Scholarships present a diverse array of courses for high-achieving international students with an outstanding academic record. Established by the Hungarian Government, the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program aims to enhance the internationalization of Hungarian higher education by attracting top students worldwide. This initiative provides an opportunity for students to establish personal and professional connections in Hungary while enjoying high-quality education in the heart of Europe.
Value & Duration of Award:
For Bachelor’s, Master’s, One-tier Master’s, and Non-degree Programs:
- Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend – HUF 43,700 (approximately EUR 110) for non-degree, bachelor’s, master’s, and one-tier master’s levels. This contribution supports living expenses in Hungary for 12 months a year until the completion of studies.
- Accommodation contribution – Free dormitory place or a monthly contribution of HUF 40,000 to accommodation costs for the entire scholarship period. Note: If the student doesn’t live in the dormitory, the HUF 40,000/month contributes to rental costs, which may not cover the full amount in larger cities.
- Medical insurance – Health care services according to Hungarian legislation and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (approximately EUR 170) per year/person.
For Doctoral Programs:
- Tuition-free education – exemption from the payment of tuition fees.
- Monthly stipend – According to current Hungarian legislation, HUF 140,000 (approximately EUR 365) for the first phase of education (4 semesters) and HUF 180,000 (approximately EUR 470) for the second phase (4 semesters). This support is provided for 12 months a year until completion of studies.
- Accommodation contribution – Free dormitory place or a monthly contribution of HUF 40,000 to accommodation costs for the entire scholarship period. Note: If the student doesn’t live in the dormitory, the HUF 40,000/month contributes to rental costs, which may not cover the full amount in larger cities.
- Medical insurance – Health care services according to Hungarian legislation and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65,000 (approximately EUR 170) per year/person.

Eligibility:
To be considered for the Stipendium Hungarian Scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- All international applicants are eligible to apply for the Scholarship.
- Citizens of Hungary or those with Dual Nationality with Hungary cannot apply for the scholarship.
- Students aged more than 18 years as of August 31, 2024.
- Applicants not currently studying in any Hungarian Higher Institution on a self-financed basis.
- Students who have availed this scholarship before cannot reapply.
